Obituary

SABEAN, Marcia Joan – Born on September 28, 1946 went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 11, 2020. Marcia (Marsha), the daughter of the late Chester and Adeline (Walker) Sabean; sister of the late Tereance Sabean is survived by her niece Amanda Catherine Sabean, Halifax, as well as many cousins. Sadly missed by them and her closest friend Leona and other special friends she gathered to herself over the past years. We can find comfort in knowing that Marci is with Jesus, family and brothers and sisters in the Lord – no pain, no sorrow – only true joy – to be home at last. Marcia grew up in Port Lorne. She joined the church, got baptized and joined the choir all at age 12. She started teaching Sunday school at age 13. Later Marcia joined the Middleton Baptist Church and choir for a number of years. Besides her Lord, her family and singing she loved children. To teach children was to be her passion. She attended the teachers college in Truro. Graduating in 1972 began a twenty-five year journey with the Annapolis School Board, exclusively. Teaching at Margaretsville Consolidated School, Nictaux West and the Annapolis East Elementary grades primary and one, mostly. Marcia lovingly helped to shape the lives of the students beginning school years. On December 19, 2019 at a surprise gathering to allow her students to come see her or send greetings to her, she was in her glory and deeply touched by the response from HER CHILDREN. There were students, some parents, comments, gifts, cars, photo albums, well wishes and lots of hugs, even a few fellow teachers showed up to share in the celebration. A twenty year resident of Kings County, yet she still loved her home in Port Lorne and Middleton, especially the memories of the family and friends of these precious times. Marcia had suffered many health issues but only learned of the cancer she'd been harbouring for about 10 years with a terminal (stage 4) diagnoses a few months before her life ended. This never shook her faith – God would provide, and he did. During the last few months of her life Palliative Caregiver's were so amazingly caring and kind as well as her doctor, Dr. Kevin McGuire and every contact member of the staff of Halifax, Kentville and especially Soldier's Memorial Hospital. SMH staff before and during Covid 19 lock down became Marcia's extended family. (The nurses, doctors, palliative care, xrays techs. lab workers, kitchen staff – too many to mention by name.) Marcia found a new friend also in the hospital, Nancy Grant. What a blessing. (Especially during a time when little to no visitors were allowed.) Loved and appreciated for her example of a true ambassador of Christ. Marcia – from all who know you and loved you – We Bid You Ado – Just – for – Now. A private interment service will take place in Fundy View Cemetery, Port Lorne, with Rev. Danny Smith officiating. Donation in Marcia's memory can be made to Middleton Baptist Church or the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448.
