Margaret (Peggy) Anne Lavigueur
April 15, 1954 – February 16, 2026
With profound love and sadness, we announce the passing of Margaret "Peggy" Anne Lavigueur on Monday, February 16, 2026, at the age of 71.
Peggy was lovingly adopted in childhood by Anne and George Thompson, who raised her alongside her brother Ed. Anne and George later welcomed two more children, Geoff and Fran, completing the family Peggy cherished as her own.
Later in life, Peggy discovered her birth family roots in Nova Scotia. She learned that her birth mother, Doreen Mae Powell (Chodachek), and her father Matt Topolnisky, had both since passed. Through this journey of discovery, she found not only her brother Brian and wife Valarie, whom she came to know and love, but also her cousins Glenn, Jane and their family, with whom she formed a special and meaningful bond. These connections brought her great joy, a deep sense of belonging, and another meaningful chapter to her life story.
Peggy was the beloved wife and soulmate of Myles. The love they shared was deep, steady, and unmistakable — the kind of love that felt destined. Those who knew them could see that their bond was rare and extraordinary — a truest friendship and love so vast and enduring it felt as though this world could scarcely contain it.
Peggy was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Jennifer and Renée, and a loving stepmother to Victoria and Chris. Together, they were blessed with 16 cherished grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy and pride. Her family was her heart, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
She had a warm heart, a generous spirit, and a kindness that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Peggy's infectious laughter, wisdom, and comforting presence were a steady light in the lives of those she loved. Her sense of humour was quietly witty and larger than life at the same time. She had a gift of finding joy, laughter and fun in what could be the monotony of life and shared that with everyone. Through her quiet acts of service, she made sure those around her felt safe, supported, and deeply loved.
Peggy was a dedicated accountant and meticulous bookkeeper whose passion was helping others build strong, stable foundations for their businesses. She believed that careful planning, honesty, and hard work were the cornerstones of success. Through her steady guidance and attention to detail, she supported countless individuals, businesses, and non-profits in achieving their goals. Her professionalism was matched only by her integrity and genuine desire to see others thrive.
Peggy will be lovingly remembered by her husband Myles; her daughters Jennifer and Renée; her stepchildren Victoria and Chris; her 16 grandchildren; her brothers Ed, Geoff, and Brian; her sister Fran; extended family; and many dear friends. Her legacy lives on in the values she instilled, the businesses and non-profits she strengthened, the simple but meaningful ways she showed love every day, and the love that continues to bind her family together.
A celebration of Peggy's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honour her memory by spending time with loved ones and sharing kindness, just as she always did.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
