Obituary

LESLIE, Marian Frances Joan (Faulkner) ~ Age 75, of Nicholsville, Kings Co., passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born August 14, 1949, on Devils Island, Halifax Co., she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Nora (Smith) Faulkner. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, William and Thomas Faulkner, a brother in infancy; and brother-in-law, John Leslie. Survived by her husband of 52 years, Rodney D. Leslie; daughters, Lisa Leslie (Jeremy) of Nicholsville and Andrea Leslie (Oliver) of Falmouth; grandchildren, Jacob, Isla, and she had been eagerly awaiting the birth of a new granddaughter; sister, Patricia (the late Grover) Rose; sisters-in-law, Debbie (the late Paul) Kasperson, Loreen (David) MacDonald, and Susan (the late Thomas) Faulkner; nieces and nephews, Andrew, Jonathan, Danielle, Angela, Tina and Trevor. Her relationships with Connie and Michelle held a special place in her heart, as did her many dear cousins. Marian was blessed with many friendships in the local community, which has shown much support to the family in this time of grief. Marian had been employed at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography (BIO) - Fisheries & Oceans and maintained relationships with her BIO co-workers to present day. When her husband was posted to Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Greenwood, she transferred to the Construction & Engineering Department at CFB Greenwood until her retirement. Marian was an avid gardener. Her green thumb was rivaled only by the love she poured into her kitchen, where she was known for creating delicious meals and sweet treats that brought people together. Above all, her heart was filled with love and pride for her grandchildren. Marian enjoyed giving back to her community and, in years past, volunteered with the Girl Guides of Canada, the M.S. Society, the Berwick Food Bank, the Adult Day Program with the Victorian Order of Nurses and the former SOS Children's Village.

All are welcome to attend a Celebration of Marian's Life that will take place from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 21 , in Nicholsville Community Hall. The family would like you to join them to share memories and celebrate the life she lived. Casual attire is welcome.
