GAUDET , Marie "Dora" ~ age 89 of Nictaux South, passed away Monday, July 22, 2019 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Concession, Digby Co., she was a daughter of the late Willis and Augusta (Gaudet) Doucet. Dora was the First "Evangeline" for the Festival de Acadian in 1955. She trained as a teacher and in her younger years she taught at the convent in Meteghan. She enjoyed her word games especially playing Scrabble with her family. She kept in touch with her family by mastering her computer tablet at the age of 89! Dora was a terrific homemaker; making delicious chocolate cake, rappie pie and fresh rolls. Dora will be deeply missed by her husband, Leonard; daughter, Carol (Bill) Maher, Port George; sons, Robert (Sherry), Victoria Vale; Paul, Nictaux South; Mike, Nictaux Falls; David, Zwicker Lake and Allen (Julie), Nictaux; sisters, Antoinette Comeau, Little Brook, Digby and Elva Jacquard (Paul Doucet) Grosses Coques; grandchildren, Tanya (Vince) Smith, Regina, SK; Billy (Angie) Maher, Calgary, AB; Colby, Montreal, QE; Garett, Victoria Vale; Melissa Gaudet and Stephanie Gaudet, both of Hearst, ON; great grandchildren, Zander and Sophia Smith; Addison and Cameron Maher; Gabriel St. Pierre and Wyatt Gaudet. Besides her parents, Dora was predeceased by brothers, Gilbert and Robert. The family wishes to give grateful thanks to Paul and Carol for all the time and loving care they provided to Mom during the last few years. It is deeply appreciated. A Memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 5, 2019 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Concession, NS, with Father Benny d'Entremont officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery. Donations in Dora's memory may be made to Diabetes Canada or Canadian Cancer Society.
