LIGHTFOOT, Marie Gertrude – age 87, of Berwick, formerly of Kentville, Kings Co., passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 2, 2016 in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born on August 26, 1928, in Centreville, Digby Co., she was a daughter of the late Harry E. and Georgie A. (Hersey) Thompson. Surviving are daughters, Darlene Lightfoot (Andy Berry), Wilmot; Debbie (Charlie) Tanner, Deep Brook; sons, Donnie (Joeanne) Lightfoot and Ernie (Nancy) Lightfoot, both of Coldbrook; grandchildren, Heather, Michael, Michelle, Elaine, Amanda, Ernie Jr., and Jamie; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Yvonne (Jim) LaPlante, Digby; Dollie (Harvey) Peters, Guillivers Cove. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Chester "Tom" Lightfoot; son, Gary Lightfoot; sister, Muriel Thompson; brothers, George and Harold Thompson. There will be no visitation and a graveside service for family and friends will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, August 20, 2016 in the Habitant Cemetery, Habitant, Kings Co., with Pastor Christina Bigelow officiating. A reception will follow in the Canning District Lions Club, 1000 Seminary Ave., Canning. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Grand View Manor, Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to Canadian Diabetes Association.
