Marilyn G.
Archibald
February 11, 1934 – May 21, 2025
Marilyn G. (Ross) Archibald, (91), passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born February 11, 1934, in Kingston, NS, she was the only child of the Late Charles and Thelma (Smith) Ross.
Beloved Mother of Thelma Archibald Gregan (Ivan), Bruce (Sheri) and Ian (Glen), we were blessed by her strength, wisdom, humour, and boundless love.
She was a devoted Grandmother to Mackenzie, Madison, Nathan, Simon and Tobi Archibald, William Gregan (Libby) and Great Grandmother of Ian Gregan. She delighted in sharing in their activities and was proud of their accomplishments. The arms of her love extended to the entire Archibald family. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Olive Archibald and many nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Middleton High, Mount Allison and Acadia Universities, Marilyn returned to the Annapolis Valley to begin her teaching career. It was here she met Harold Archibald whom she married in 1962. Theirs was an enduring and inspiring model of love and commitment.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Harold; two half brothers, David and Gordon Ross; and many special Archibald in-laws.
A woman of great faith, Marilyn was a lifelong member of Kingston United Church where she sang in the choir and served on many committees.
Marilyn loved to travel but her greatest joy was in time spent with family and friends. She was a gracious hostess whose door was always open. Her quick wit, warm hospitality and delicious cooking were valued by all who knew her.
She enjoyed gardening, the therapeutic power of berry picking, and a spirited card game! Her decades long weekly afternoon with "The Bridge Club" was a source of joy. The sustaining support and friendship of this group, which began in 1969, has been extraordinary to witness.
The family would like to thank the staff of Evergreen for their care over the last year and a half.
We will be eternally grateful to Marilyn's special care giver, Jill Hartling Clarke, for her loving care and companionship over the years. They shared a very special bond.
