Leaman, Marilyn "Grandy" June – Age 91, of Greenwood, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Douglas and Gladys (Pitman) Snow. Marilyn was a telephone operator for MT&T in Halifax in her younger years. Becoming a military wife, she travelled across Canada and beyond, often square dancing her way through many countries as part of a bus tour challenge when they were living in Germany. She was a member of the Aylesford Baptist Church, having served on the church's Social Committee for many years. A member for over 60 years of the Order of the Eastern Star, Mayflower Chapter 2, she held the office of treasurer. Affectionately known as "Grandy" to family members and close friends, she made the world's best seafood chowder, was well known for the impressive size of her dessert portions, and was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. Surviving are her daughters, Deborah (Dave) Gilbert, Aylesford; Deevine Unity, Edmonton; son Michael Leaman; grandchildren, D. Patrick (Sara) Gilbert, Aylesford; Spencer (Brittany) Gilbert, Meadowvale; great grandchildren, Jorgia-Anne, David, Adrian, Lara, Beau, Cadence. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband George, brother Alan Snow, and great grandson Henry. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 in Aylesford Baptist Church, Pastor D. Patrick Gilbert officiating. A reception will follow the service. Cremation has taken place and interment will be held 3:30 pm on Thursday, January 12, 2023 in North Kingston Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Aylesford Baptist Church.
