Marilyn Elaine
Veinot
March 9, 1940 – May 2, 2021
Marilyn Elaine (Moore) Veinot
9 March 1940 – 2 May 2021
Marilyn was born in Brooklyn and was daughter of the late Gordon and Hilda (Trask) Moore of Brooklyn. Marilyn was well known for her smile and laugh that could fill a room. She grew up in a large family of ten. She loved her siblings and there are many good stories from both their childhood and adult lives. She married at 18 and began her own family with Raymond Kenneth Veinot. She spent many years raising her seven children and doing house cleaning jobs. In the 1980s, she went to work at Mid-Valley Motel and was well loved by her coworkers, as well as the guests who came to know her. For a couple of years, she was awarded a cleaning contract with Department of Transportation in Middleton, NS; a job that she enjoyed very much. She continued to clean many homes for several years. Marilyn took pride in her work and all those who worked with her could see that.
She welcomed people into her home and often helped those who were in need. She loved a good kitchen party and enjoyed a variety of activities. Without a doubt, she made great food and there were many favorites such as her solomon gundy and her blueberry dumplings/pie. She was well known for her baked beans, fresh baked bread, and homemade jam. She loved to watch the birds and cardinals were one of her favorites. Gardening was a hobby that resulted in many flower beds and planters around the property. Quilting was among her talents, and many in the family are fortunate to have been given a quilt that she made. Painting was a recent pastime that she had taken an interest in and she shared this with some of her grandchildren. It was an activity that they enjoyed sharing with her and sincerely looked forward to. Over the years, her much loved trips to the camp had transitioned from walks to a ride on the Gator – a sight to take joy in as she smiled widely. She loved her family deeply, and that family included many dogs over the years, and while they were all loved it was Humphrey that truly stole her heart.
During her time in hospice care, she won the hearts of the staff. Her mischievous grin and teasing ways were still there even near the end. They became a second family and enjoyed singing and playing old songs with her.
She was loved by many and known as a kind and generous person with a beautiful soul. She will be carried in the memories of all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by daughters, Donna Scally (James); Barb Veinot (Sandy); Jeannie Montgomery (William); sons, Darrell Veinot (Darlene); Lindsay Veinot (Tammy); Jeff Veinot (Cindy); Sheldon Veinot; sisters, Marcia Turner; Sharon Bent; Patricia Ryerson; Mary Moore and Jennifer Hallett; thirteen grandchildren, Tyler (Raina); Peter; Melissa; Marilyn (Brent); Adam; Vikki; James; Alyssa (Chris); Alex (Nicole); Sarah (Harley); Evan; Samantha and Maggie; eleven great grandchildren, Anika; Elayna; Ava; Dante; Zander; Keira; Devin; Colby; Anthony; Robbie and Ethan. She is predeceased by her husband Raymond Kenneth Veinot; sister, Sheila Moore; brothers, Truman, Phillip and Eddie Moore.
The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation for the care that she was provided by VON when she was still at home, as well as their help to navigate the health care system. The decision to move her to hospice care was very difficult, especially since Marilyn had rarely spent a night away from her own home in all her life. Valley Hospice, not only cared for her, they made her a new home and loved her like their own. The family is forever grateful for the support and kindness shown by all their staff.
Donations can be made in her memory to VON or Valley Hospice. A service will take place at a later date due to the current restrictions in place as a result of Covid-19.
