BARKHOUSE, Marjorie Ella Maude – age 76 of Mount Hanley, NS passed away Friday, September 23, 2016 in the Annapolis Community Health Centre surrounded by her loving family. Born in Waterford, Digby Co., she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Lena (Tibbetts) Specht. Marjorie loved nature and especially going fishing and camping. She enjoyed attending church and was a great cook. Marjorie loved her family dearly, especially all her nieces and nephews. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Joseph Barkhouse; sister, Verna Specht Taylor (Don Johnson), Alberta; brother, Henry (Roseanne) Specht, Ontario; sisters-in-law, Ruth Specht, Mount Hanley; Maureen Specht, Ontario; sister-in-law Iris Barkhouse, Mount Hanley;  brother-in-law, Morley Barkhouse, Wilmot; brother-in-law Winston Barkhouse, Middleton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter Brenda Evangeline; sisters, Vivian "Sis" Turner; Lois Coolen and husband Les; Elsie Barkhouse; brothers, Alton "Bub" Specht and wife Jeanne; Louis Specht; Clyde Specht; Fredrick in infancy and sister, Louise "Tootie" (Edgar) Titus. Marjorie's family would like to deeply thank the palliative care team that worked with her for the last few months giving her such excellent care and dignity. We would also like to thank the Annapolis Community Health Centre's nursing staff and doctors for looking after Marjorie in her final days. They gave her such great care and for that we are forever grateful. Visitation will be held 6:00PM-8:00PM Monday, September 26, 2016 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 where funeral service will be held 2:00PM Tuesday, September 27, 2016 with Rev. Leon Langille officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Port George. Donations in Marjorie's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice.
