Obituary

SAUNDERS, Marjorie Karleen ~ Age 96, of Berwick, Kings Co., passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at home. Born on January 26, 1926, in Burlington, Kings Co., she was the only daughter of the late Albert and Elva (Scotney) Cunningham (of Berwick, formerly of Burlington). Marjorie resided in Burlington until 12 years old and then lived in Halifax, Kingston and Aylesford for some years before settling in Berwick. She had been a caregiver to many all her life, had been employed for 37 years at Spicer's Rest Home, Berwick, and had looked after 53 children. Marjorie was a faithful member of Berwick Baptist Church and MacPherson Auxiliary and was a life member of Ladies Auxiliary of Royal Canadian Legion, Ortona Branch No. 69, Berwick. She was a 62-year member and current treasurer of St. Eudora Rebekah Lodge No. 43, Berwick, where she was a Past Noble Grand, on the local executive and had held every office except musician. Marjorie loved music and loved to travel on many trips with friends. Being a world traveler, she had booked many bus tours and had made nine trips to Branson, Missouri. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Guilford Saunders; brothers, Walter (Jane "Adelia") and Donald Cunningham; son-in-law, Eric Baltzer. Marjorie leaves behind her children, Linda Baltzer, Wilmot; Murray (Donna) and Laurie (Suzanne) Saunders; sister-in-law, Gloria Cunningham, all of Berwick; special daughter, Rhonda Baltzer, Aylesford; grandchildren, Lisa (Arnold), Carol, Angela (Ken), Scott (James), Michelle (Kingsley), Lyle (Michelle) and Brianne (Aaron); great grandchildren, Michael (Cassandra), Allen (Sheena), Ryan and Dominic; great great grandchildren, Ryder and Parker; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral service and a Rebekah Lodge tribute will begin at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 16, in Berwick Baptist Church, 265 Commercial St., Berwick. Rev. Andrew Conrad officiating. A reception to follow with interment in Berwick Cemetery. (The family would recommend wearing a facemask in the church.) Family flowers only, donations in her memory may be made to Berwick Baptist Church, St. Eudora Rebekah Lodge No. 43, Kings Co. S.P.C.A. or to Berwick & District Volunteer Fire Department.
