Mark Llewellyn
Veinotte
January 30, 1957 – December 10, 2025
Veinotte, Mark Llewellyn ~ age 68, of Nictaux, NS, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville surrounded by his family. Born in Berwick, NS, he was a son of the late Owen and Ruth (Acker) Veinotte. Mark worked with pride and dedication at Sawler Gardens Ltd. for 29 years where he drove the big red CASE tractors tending to the crops. He made many lasting friendships while there one being his "work girlfriend" Gene. Mark was a recently retired member and former Deputy Chief with 37 years of service in the Nictaux & District Fire Department. During his time with the Department, he also served as a driver, operator and traffic control person. Mark could always be counted on for jumping in the driver's seat, making the water flow and swinging the stop sign. He previously served with the Kingston District Fire Department for 2 years. Mark had a deep love for the outdoors; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching the birds come to the feeders around his home. Known for his skill in small engine repair, he was a true "grease monkey" who was always willing to rip apart an engine or provide advice to someone attempting a repair. He was well known in the community for his skill at fixing any small engine as long as it wasn't what he deemed as "junk." He often had helping hands by his side during the repairs; Marlene, his son Jason, and buddy Pete. The banter between them was playful and constant. He enjoyed the company of family and friends who popped by for a visit just to shoot the breeze and maybe have a coffee. A few he looked forward to seeing were his cousin Mike, his niece Kelly, longtime neighbour Phyllis and friends Chris, Glen and Donnie. Mark loved going on drives. When the kids were growing up, he and Marlene would pack the four kids into their silver Cavalier and head to his moms for a visit or out the old dirt fire roads. Once the kids were adults, Mark and Marlene continued those drives to visit his extra special cousins Ivy and Joy or scouting out the fields for deer along the Middle Road. They would always keep a mental tally of any deer they would see on their drives. Mark was known for giving nicknames to people in his life. If you have a nickname from Mark, you know who you are and you should know you were one of the "special" ones. Mark is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Marlene (Crouse), Nictaux; daughters, Tanya Veinotte (Rob), Waterville; Melissa Akin (Jason), New Minas; son, Jason Veinotte, Nictaux; sisters, Nora (Doug), Moncton; Karen (Byron) Marshall, Clarence; brother, Stuart Veinotte, Victoria, British Columbia; grandchildren, Dylan, Logan, Kristen, Kyleigh, Haley, Summer, Hunter and Jake; great-grandchildren, Holden and Tiana; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Nancy; son, Ashley; brother-in-law, Richard Milner; sister-in-law, Barbara Duffy and special cousin, Jeffery Bezanson. The family would like to express their gratitude to Mark's family doctor, Dr. Surette, respirologist Dr. Parker, cardiologist Dr. Clarke and the many doctors, nurses and staff in both the ER and ICU at Valley Regional along with the EHS paramedics who showed great care and compassion to Mark and his family. Visitation will be held from 6–8 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, and the funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025, both in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448. Interment will follow in Torbrook Mines Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will take place afterward in the Nictaux Fire Hall, 9349 Highway 10, Nictaux. Donations in Mark's memory may be made to the Nictaux & District Fire Department or to a charity of one's choice. Online guestbook may be signed by visiting www.middletonfuneralhome.com
