Marlene Margaret
Pidgeon
December 13, 1931 – March 8, 2011
PIDGEON, Marlene Margaret (Belanger) - 79, Bridgetown, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. A long time resident of Melvern Square and later Kingston, Marlene had been residing at Mountain Lea Lodge as her affliction with Alzheimers demanded. Born in Dalhousie New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Adelard Belanger and Doris (Letourneau) Belanger. After completing school she moved to Montreal where she met the love of her life, a young airman named Frank. After their courtship and marriage, she faithfully followed him and raised a family across the nation and around the world, being posted to Ottawa; Grostenquin, France; Zweibrucken, Germany; Winnipeg; Cold Lake, and finally settling here in the Valley. Her devotion to her family and friends was ever evident, always there when needed, supporting Frank in his career, being both Mother and Father when his duties took him away. Marlene was an active member of St. Monicas Parish. Throughout her life she was inspired to learn many things, she loved painting, making stained glass, cooking, sewing, knitting, cross stitch, ceramics, and many other crafts; but never less than two at a time as she was never idle. Alzheimers may have taken so many things from Mom, but God gave her dignity. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion for all that knew and loved her. She was a gift from God. Let us remember the vibrant person she was, the person God created her to be. She is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Patrick Francis Frank Pidgeon; and is survived by daughters, Deborah Duggan (Aubrey), Truro; Laura Turcot (Jean Marc), Ottawa, Ont.; sons, Roger (Cathy), Fort McMurray, Alta.; Philip (Karolyn), Windsor, NS; grandchildren, Eric Duggan, Karen Duggan, Wendy (Dale) Freeman, Valerie (Peter) McFetridge, Melanie Schop, Jonathan Pidgeon, Sarah (Matthew) Hartlin, Joshua Pidgeon, and five great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Gerard, Eddie, Bennie and Rene, sisters, Carmen, Connie, Tessie, Bernice and Marina, as well as great-granddaughter, Arianna. Visitation will be held 7:00 to 9:00PM Friday, March 11, 2011, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. Funeral mass will be held 11:00AM Saturday, March 12, 2011 in St. Monica's Roman Catholic Church, Middleton, Father Gerald Saulnier officiating, assisted by Rev. Deacon Donald Boudreau, with cremation to follow. Interment will be held at a later date in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Kingston. By request, family flowers only.
