Obituary

Marlene (Madill) Stronach went home to be with her Savior on the morning of November 7, 2018. She leaves behind many saddened family and dear friends who will greatly miss her and always remember her fondly. Marlene was born on September 30 th , 1939 in Peterborough, Ontario to parents Thomas and Ruth Madill; the middle of nine children. Her childhood in rural Ontario was filled with many challenges, but with the support of her brothers and sisters they were all overcome. Marlene is predeceased by sisters Joyce and Margaret. Marlene settled in Trenton, Ontario as a young lady where she met an airman from Nova Scotia, David Stronach. They married in 1961 and began their married life together which lasted till David passed away in 1995. During that time, they raised three children Brian (Shelley), Karen (Kevin) and Robert (Ruth) while stationed in Summerside, Trenton and Greenwood. At each location, Marlene was active in the church and always had the teapot on for a visit. Marlene also held down the home front while David served around the globe. After leaving the military, Marlene and David settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she worked as a ward clerk at a care home for many years. New friends were made that would last till the end. Marlene retired to the valley where she enjoyed reconnecting with old acquaintances and making new ones. Special times were had around Karen's kitchen table, the apartment swing and the book club. Marlene also enjoyed watching events and travelling to see the next generation of the family. Her grandchildren, Lindsey, Kelsey, Ashley, Leah, Michael, Connor, Abby, Matthew, Timothy and Evan; and great-grandchildren Trent and Brittany, were all dearly loved and prayed for. The verse, 'Only one life will soon be past; Only what's done for Christ will last' hung in the family home. The words are poignant in this moment and were lived out by Marlene. There will be a Visitation from 1 p.m., until the time of the Funeral Service at 2:00 pm, Monday, November 12 th , both in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, 902-825-3448, with Rev.
