BUNGAY, Mary Jean ~ Age 87, passed away Friday, March 13, 2020, in the QEII, Halifax. Born in North Sydney, on January 25, 1933, she was the daughter of the late George and Beatrice (Price) Hicks. Mary attended school in North Sydney. She worked as a cashier and bookkeeper at the Odeon Theater, where she met and fell in love with her husband Gerald. Mary was a member of the Kingston United Church where she was a member of the UCW, a past member of the Kingston Lionettes, and the Red Hats. She enjoyed many hobbies such as square dancing, skating, knitting, rug hooking, swimming and going for walks. She loved to play cards with friends and family. Mary also volunteered at the elementary school reading to children. She is survived and will be sadly missed by three sons, Phillip (Debbie), Shad Bay; Bill (Shelly), Lantz; and Richard (Tracey), Ottawa; grandchildren, Christopher (Jessica), Fredericton; Ashlea (Jason), Halifax; and Olivia and Victoria, Ottawa; great-grandchildren, Carter and Riley. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, and love of her life, Norman "Gerald"; sisters, Mabel (Gerry) Gouthro; Eva (Hector) Whitty. As requested, cremation has taken place.  Interment will take place in North Sydney at a later date. Donations in Mary's memory may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses, EMTs, and staff at, Melville Heights, Maplestone, and the QEII for helping to care for Mary while she lived in Halifax.
