CESTNICK, Mary Malvina ~ Age 82 of South Greenwood, NS, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 22, 2025, at the QEII Halifax Infirmary. Born in Inverness, she was the daughter of the late John Dan and Bertha (Monnon) MacDonald.

Mary was a faithful member of the Queen of Heaven Chapel in Greenwood and a dedicated member of the Catholic Women's League. She was also a longtime member of the VON Sore Finger Quilters and a devoted Toronto Blue Jays fan.

She loved movies, baking, and spending time with her many friends at afternoon dinners and card games. Known for her warm personality and social nature, Mary will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Shauna (Robert) Comeau, Greenwood; sons, Darcy (Angela) Cestnick, Delta, BC and Michael (Nicole) Cestnick, Fort McMurray, AB; sister, Deanna Marie (Sandy) McLean, Inverness; grandchildren, Nathaniel (Kiley), Alberta; Jason, Greenwood; Sara, Greenwood; Alanna (Zach), Saskatoon; Kimberly (Brady), Martinsville, SK; Jonathan, Saskatoon; Celsa (Nicholas), Jasper, AB; Mackenzie and Jenna; Fort McMurray, step grandchildren, Christopher (Natalie),Jordan (Dominique); Jaden and Victoria; great grandchildren, Arianna, Madeline and  Barry. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Richard and daughter, Jacqueline in infancy.

In keeping with Mary's wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral service will held on October 6th at 12:15 in Queen of Heaven Chapel, 14 Wing Greenwood. Father Magnus Chilaka officiating. Interment will be in Stella Maris Cemetery, Inverness at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
