Obituary

Mary Elizabeth "Betty" (Bezanson) Bent - age 91of Bridgetown East, (formerly of Middleton, NS) died July 10, 2016 at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Betty was born in 1925 and raised in North and South Williamston, Annapolis County. She was the daughter of Harold (Ted) Bezanson and Ella (Blanche) (Whitman)-Bezanson. Betty graduated from Lawrencetown High School in 1942 and went to Normal College in Truro to pursue a teaching career. Mom taught for a short time in Forest Glade, Prince Albert and Mosher's Corner. It was while boarding in Mosher's Corner that she met and married our father, Joe. Mom was a fantastic cook, enjoyed her daily crossword puzzle and instilled the love of reading in each of us. She is survived by 3 daughters, Mary Wagner (Donald) Lower Sackville, Anne-Marie Underhill (Richard), Brickton, Linda Bent (Vincent Marshall), Bridgetown North, 9 sons, David (Cheryl Putman), South Williamston, Gordon (Sharon), Mount Hanley, Richard (Susan) Mount Hanley, Alan (Michele), North Kingston, Ronald (Theresa), Nictaux, Glendon (Elaine), Paradise, Neil (Judy), Lawrencetown, Roger, Prince Albert, Andrew (Kathy Robar), Meadowvale. Betty is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years Joseph Arleigh Bent (2002), her parents, Ted (1960) and Blanche (1999), her sister Kathleen (Bezanson)-Gridley (1992), daughter-in-law, Rhoda (Gillis) Bent (2007) and grandson, Joseph Robb (1996). She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. We would like to take this time to thank the staff at Grace Haven for their kind attentive care and also the nursing staff at SMH who made our last hours with Mom so much easier to bear. In keeping with Betty's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 PM Wednesday, July 13, 2016 in the Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448, where a memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 14 th with Licentiate Elaine Bent officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Private family interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. Family flowers only please. Donations in Betty's memory may be made to Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton, the Rosa M Harvey Library, Middleton or a charity of choice.
