Obituary

MARTEL, Mary Alice, lovingly known as "Mom" - age 83 of Lake Paul, NS passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014 in Dartmouth General Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born in Liverpool, NS she was a daughter of the late Cecil Brothers and Mary Ellen "Elva" West. Mary Alice devoted her life to her family. In earlier years she worked as a Practical Nurse and was a Care Giver to numerous children. She enjoyed playing darts, bowling, golfing, quilting and dancing. Mary Alice loved her family dearly, especially all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Denis) Vermette, Lake Paul; Brenda Martel, Dartmouth; Ingrid Martel (Ron Granados), Sydney; her sister, Marion Grant, Liverpool; her brother, Merrill (Michelle) Berriman, Halifax; her grandchildren; Lynn, Tammy, Brett, Sarah, Nicholas and Brittany; great grandchildren; Ashleigh, Shelby, Kolton, Braylene, Damien, Josie and one on the way; several nieces and nephews and her beloved dog "Tao". Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Jean Andre Martel; daughter Lisa; grandsons Paul and Joshua; sister Audrey and brothers Gerald and Clyde. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, June 25, 2014 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be in the North Kingston Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only please.
