MELANSON, Mary Edith - age 83 of Bridgetown, NS formerly of Middleton, NS was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 22, 2015. Born in Bathurst, NB she was a daughter of the late Levite and Alice (Young) Melanson. Mary was past president of the Ladies Auxiliary, Middleton Branch No. 1, Royal Canadian Legion and previously she was with Kingston Branch No. 98, Royal Canadian Legion as well as Oshawa Branch No. 43, Royal Canadian Legion. She loved poetry, wrote and collected many favourites over the years. Her love of us, as well as all children and youth led her to be actively involved with the Leo Club, KRJ's, Legion Juniors as well a Mom for SOS Children's Village. She is survived by her daughters, Karla (Leo) Chin, Oshawa, ON and Bizzie, Greenwood; her son, Grant (Carole) Melanson, Wilmot; her sister, Ella Legg, Vancouver Island, BC; her grandchildren, Nicholas Chin, Jessica Chin and Savanna (Jason Taylor) and great granddaughters Delaney Rae and Kinsley Mya. Special thanks to Mom's precious nieces and nephews of her late dear sister Patricia and late brother-in-law Bill Gee affectionately known to us as "Mommy Pat and Daddy Bill". Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Theresa Frankoff; Patricia Gee and her brother Ernie Melanson. In keeping with Mary's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 6:00PM-8:00PM Thursday, November 26, 2015 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 where a memorial service will held 11:00AM Friday, November 27, 2015 with Rev. Deacon Donald Boudreau officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory may be made to the IWK Health Centre Foundation or other children's charities.
