PALMER (Walsh), Mary Phyllis ~ Age 84, of Millville (Aylesford), Kings Co., N.S., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, in Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Scotland, Mary grew up in Newfoundland and Montreal, Que. After finishing school she joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and became an administrator and obtained her pilots license before becoming a mother. She had a big love for animals and always had a variety of critters around her. She was an accomplished horsewoman, owning and managing the Mane and Tail Tack shop for many years to support her daughters and animals. Remarrying she became a full-time farmer. She became an equal partner in all ways, running strawberry fields, multiple barns, gardens and the home. She raised hound dogs as a hobby and became the secretary of the Valley Coon and Cat club organizing hunts and shows. She trapped and hunted for furs in which she sold. She became a UKC kennel judge and a recognized breeder. Being the oldest of her siblings, she was always the leader, the pioneer and often the caretaker. With her many talents and interests. She loved life and all it held for her. Especially for her family, including her cats, dogs and horses. She is survived by her husband, Milton Palmer; daughters, Donna Sharpe (Chester); Laura Bent (Buddy); brothers, Jasper and Tom Walsh (Marlene); sisters, Wilma Lenaghan (Don); Catherine “Cathy” O’Connell (Robie); grandchildren, Garrett, Jason, Shawna and Ashley. She was predeceased by her father, Louis Walsh; mother, Phyllis Walsh; brother, Louis Walsh; and sister, Sheila Guindon. Cremation has taken place and no service will be held as requested. Mary will travel to Montreal to rest beside her mother and sister in Mount Royal Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448.
