Obituary

WARD, Mary Elizabeth – age 71, of Lawrencetown, Annapolis Co., passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016, in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born in Gaspereaux, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Abbie (Stevens) Veinot. Mary loved her family and friends. She loved animals, in particular taking many stray cats into her home and was also an avid supporter of the Humane Society. One of Mary's favourite pastimes was playing bingo. Surviving are her husband of 32 years, James E. Ward, Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown; daughter, Jo-Ann (Timothy) McKay, Middleton; son, Joseph Jr., Hamilton, Ont.; step-daughter, Debbie (Arthur) Crouse), Alberta; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Dianne Attard, Toronto, Ont.; Peggie (Ed) King, Paradise; Leona (Ed) Connell, Clarence; sister-in-law, Alice Carey, Oakville, Ont.; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Robert; sister, Elaine (Merl) Rafuse; brothers, Max, Charles and Lawrence, nephew, Jason Connell. All are welcome to attend a visitation from 7-9 p.m., Thursday, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., Middleton, (902-825-3448). A private graveside service will take place in the Nictaux Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Mountain Lea Lodge or to Humane Society of Canada. The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff who provided outstanding care and kindness to Mary while at the Mountain Lea Lodge.
