LANE, Matilda Louisa – 57, of Berwick, passed away Monday, September 1, 2025, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital in Middleton. Born in Hopedale, NL, she was a daughter of Blanche Williams and the late George Lane.
She is survived by parents, Blanche and Bob Williams, Yarmouth; brothers; Andrew Lane, Hopedale, NL; Tommy Lane (Jill Nitsman), Hopedale, NL; Donnie Lane (Bev Deviller), Melbourne; Richard (Donna) Lane, Lake Vaughan; sister, Ann Williams (Jody Burrell), Pubnico. She was predeceased by her father, George Lane.
During her teenage years, Matilda attended Sea Cadets. During that time, she took many courses, including some at Comox, British Columbia. She was the second female in Nova Scotia to attain a rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. During Matilda's last year in Sea Cadets, she was an instructor at CFB Cornwallis for the summer. She then went on to attend Acadia University for two years to attain her Library Technician certificate. Matilda then worked at Acadia University as a Library Technician. Although Matilda had bipolar disorder, she was able to accomplish many things in her life. She will be remembered for always having a smile, being happy for other people's success and a friend to everyone.
Cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, 1-855-825-3448.
