Legge, Maurice David – Age 87 of New Albany, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022 in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born, December 7, 1934, in Lake Ramsay, he was the son of the late Freeman and Freda (Parker) Legge. Maurice held a certificate in advanced course in Christmas tree production from Nova Scotia Agricultural College in April 1978. He worked his whole life in forestry for himself, Mersey Paper, Douglas Nauss, and Geoff Pearse until his accident in the woods at 64, and he was no longer able to work. He was a member of Christ Anglican Church, New Ross. He enjoyed going to the Bridgetown Fiddle Festival, hunting, and fishing with his best friend, Ricky Hebb. Ricky's wife, Nancy shared her pears, peaches, and plums with him, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Maurice was predeceased by his sister, Bessie (in infancy); half-sister, Marion Legge. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 38 years, Gloria Legge (Hughes); 3 stepchildren, Michael (Lana) Hughes, Darlene (Greg) Bowlby, Gordon Hughes; step grandchildren, David Hughes, Jenny-Lynn Dietz, Germany, Emily Bowlby, AB, Abigail, Greenwood; great grandchildren, Alice & Elaine, Germany, Octavia, AB; from his first marriage, 5 children, Randy (Sally) Legge, Valerie Pinhey (Fairn), Chris (Tanya) Legge, Rodney (Wanda) Legge, Scott (Ming) Legge; 7 grandchildren, Cory, Candice & Jeremy Pinhey, Ashleigh & Vanessa Legge, Sean L. & Cody L.; great grandchildren, Aurora, McKenzie & Charlotte. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2022 in Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main St., Middleton toll free 1-855-825-3448. Reverend Leon Langille officiating. Burial will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Albany.
