Mawson Mcdougall
Baltzer
February 20, 1936 – July 8, 2024
I t is with heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of Mawson McDougall Baltzer, age 88, of Woodville, Kings Co., that took place Monday, July 8, 2024, at his home. Born on February 20, 1936, in Grafton, Kings Co., he was a son of the late Elder V. and Bernice M. (Petty) Baltzer. Mawson will be missed by all that knew him. He was an apple farmer in the Annapolis Valley for over 40 years, operating a packing plant and many trips to distribute his apples to Prince Edward Island and locally around the valley with his Lucky brand logo. Mawson always found time for his favourite things - hunting and fishing. He loved going to his cottage down in Western Shore and taking the family out mackerel fishing and may have even caught a halibut or two in his time. Mawson loved having visitors and loved it when Ruby, Nova and Felix came through the door. He also had a special friend who was like a son to him, Cory. Mawson was an active member and past master of Valley Lodge No. 90, A.F. & A.M., Berwick, and always had a smile on his face while serving coffee and tea at the monthly breakfast. Mawson is survived by his wife of 39 years, the former Shirley Butler; his son, Rick, of Coldbrook; daughter, Samantha (Brad), of Greenwood; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Linda Carr of Greenwood. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Mari-Lynn Baltzer; brother, Boyd Baltzer; and brother-in-law, Jim Carr. There will be no visitation. All are welcome to attend a masonic lodge tribute, conducted by officers and members of Valley Lodge that will begin at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 19, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448, followed by a memorial service and reception with Pastor Christina Bigelow officiating. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or to your favourite charity. Online guestbook may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
