Maxwell Nathan
Baltzer
March 20, 1941 – May 26, 2023
BALTZER, Maxwell Nathan "Mackie" ~ At the age of 82, residing in Black Rock, Kings Co., the warm-hearted Mackie peacefully passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on March 20, 1941, in Berwick, NS, he was the son of the late Trueman and Beatrice (Legere) Baltzer. Mackie was a reliable and comforting presence in the community, having devoted 47 years to driving the school bus with an impeccable safety record, providing safe travel for three generations of students. His career began with Perry Rand Limited, where he eventually ascended to the position of Union President. Mackie's commitment to safety was reflected not only in his perfect driving record, but also in the spotless condition of his bus. When not behind the wheel, Mackie enjoyed his time spent "puttering" outdoors, in his garage, and found comfort in the simplicity of life. You'd often see him sitting on his doorstep with a cup of coffee, watching the nature around him. He leaves a loving legacy in his daughters, Kim (Amanda Graves) Baltzer, Windermere; Adrienne (Mike LeGoffic) Baltzer, Hantsport; sons, David Baltzer, Waterville; Aaron Baltzer, Kingston; grandson, Scott (Hay-lee Reid) Baltzer; great-grandchildren, Bentley and Freya. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Bodnarchuk, Saskatchewan; Terri (Frank) O'Neill, Coldbrook; Shirley (Paul) Reese, Tremont; brother, David (Patsy) Baltzer, Windsor; sister-in-law, Gloria Baltzer, of Greenwood; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife, Dorothy L. Baltzer (Brewster); his sister, Pauline Eisnor; and brothers, Gerald "Buck", Lloyd, and George (Brenda) Baltzer. In his last moments, Mackie was surrounded by the love of his family, their memories of his kind and funny spirit will forever be a testament to his life well-lived. There will be no visitation. Memorial service will take place at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 10 , in Waterville Baptist Church, 1243 Mill St., Waterville, with Rev. Chad Clements officiating. A reception to follow in Black Rock Community Centre. Due to the health and safety of others the family would encourage folks attending the service to wear masks if at all possible. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to Oaklawn Farm Zoo. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448.
