BENT, Maxwell Dean-86 of Middleton passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012 in the Veterans Unit at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Waterville, Kings County, he was a son of the late Scott and Mary Annie (Trahan) Bent. He joined the Canadian Army as an 18 year old, training as a paratrooper and served in Holland and France during the Second World War. Following the war, he met and married his wife of 52 years, the former Mabel Amirault. He retired from C.E. Section 14 Wing Greenwood in 1981. He was a life member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch #98 Kingston and a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. He was very dedicated to St. Monica's Roman Catholic Church. He was a loving father, avid outdoors man and also enjoyed music. He is survived by daughters, Doreen (George) Noble, Wilmot and Karen (Brian) Saltzman, Melvern Square; son, Greg (Mary) Bent, Kentville; brother, Carl (Margaret) Bent, Berwick, grandchildren, Shawn, Steven, Krista, Jenny, Kevin, Marcy and Terry; 13 great grandchildren and special friend, Nellie Saltzman. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Mabel; brothers, Arthur and Eugene; sister, Marguerite, daughter, Marcia and grandson, Casey, Visitation will be held 7:00 to 9:00PM, Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in the Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448, beginning with a Legion Tribute conducted by Branch #98 Kingston at 7:00PM. The funeral service will be held 11:00AM Thursday, March 8, 2012 in St. Monica's Roman Catholic Church, 37 Connaught Avenue, Middleton with Father Gerald Saulnier and Rev. Deacon Don Boudreau officiating. Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Kingston. Donations in memory may be made to a Charity of Choice.
