Obituary

DREW, Maynard Brown- 87 of East Kingston, NS passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at home. Born in Outram, Annapolis County, he was a son of the late Aubrey and Hope (Stephens) Drew. Maynard was a longtime resident of East Kingston very well known for growing the best tasting corn available. Every season would find Maynard and Laura at the "wagon" with the fresh produce they worked so hard growing. Maynard's prize winning corn (ribbons proudly displayed) the main attraction. Maynard was a participant every year in the Ox Pull at the Annapolis Valley Exhibition, winning many ribbons and awards and was one of the many volunteers each year at the Kingston Steer Barbeque. His day was not complete unless he went to the Greenwood Mall for Tim Horton's coffee. Maynard is survived by his wife, the former Laura Gates; son, Gary (Chris) Drew, Melvern Square; stepson, Bryan Sherman, Avonport; sister, Wanita Tooker, Berwick; grandchildren, Jessica Sherman, Halifax/Berwick and Justin Sherman, Moncton. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Stewart. Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00PM Saturday, January 4, 2014 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448 where the funeral service will be held 2:30PM Sunday, January 5, 2014 with Rev. Karen Ralph officiating. Interment will be held in the North Kingston Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
