Michael Benedict "Mike" Tough

TOUGH, Michael Benedict “Mike”~ Age 80, of Burlington, Kings Co., N.S., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, with family by his side. Born on February 12, 1946, in Halifax, he was a son of the late J. William and Lillian M. (Guida) Tough. Michael had been a self-employed refrigeration tech. for 40 years and had operated a silver fox ranch for 10 years. He loved hunting, fishing and enjoyed woodworking. His grandchildren were cherished dearly by him. Surviving are his wife of 59 years the former M. Irene Banks; daughters, Angela (Dana) and Dianne (Bill); son, Michael (Colleen); grandchildren, Kayla, Zachary, Lyam, Cameron, and Reanna; great grandchildren, Lachlan and Gavin; brothers, Leo, George, David and Paul; sisters, Jean and Colleen; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Katherine; sisters, Theresa, Anna and Betty; brothers, Patrick and William. There will be a graveside service for Mike and Irene at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 29, in Burlington Cemetery, Barley Street, Burlington, with Pastor Christina Bigelow officiating.  Donations in his memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Victorian Order of Nurses ~ Annapolis Valley Branch or to a charity of your choice. The family would like to say a special thank you to Victorian Order of Nurses and the staff at Valley Regional Hospital for the care given to Mike.
