Obituary

TURNER, MICHAEL TREMAINE – 73 of Bridgetown, N.S. passed away in the comfort of his home on May 29, 2024. He was the youngest son of John (Jack) Turner and Elinor Turner. Survived by his wife and best friend Nancy E. (Lowe), and sons; Kevin R. Turner (Toronto), Kyle A. Turner (Craig Simon) (Halifax), big brother Kevin (Barb), Nephew Chris (Ashley), Niece Erica (Kathy), Edward and Benjamin.

Mike was born in Middleton on April 9th, 1951. He was very proud of his British heritage and got his strong business sense from his father who immigrated to Canada at a young age. Starting his career off with the family-owned transportation company, he owned multiple clothing and shoe stores, worked as a real estate and then into the role of financial advisor – he always provided for his family and established genuine connections with everyone he met along the way.

Always opting for the road less traveled, Mike loved to explore the authentic cultures and people in the country he was visiting. He made many friends in Mexico where he visited for over 20 years and felt proud to be part of several trips to Africa to help set up credit unions in remote villages. He often spoke about these trips with a mix of gratitude and pride.

Dad was a giver; whether to his local community, or communities across the world, he was truly a 'people person'. Mike was selfless, he was our 'Google Home' – we just expected him to know the answers to any questions we asked. Dad was funny, always teasing us – "I only tease the ones I love".

Mike always talked openly with his family, using logic and love as guiding principles. He always said when you wake up in the morning and your feet hit the ground, you need to have purpose in life.

You will always be with us Pa, at our family home in Bridgetown, at the cottage on Trout Lake, in Halifax, Toronto, Newfoundland and England - wherever we are, you will be there with us all. Family, extended family, friends both old and new as well as colleagues, you have always had a huge support group. Your friends and family love you and will keep your memories alive.

Dad will still be 'Mike-ro-managing' us from above 😊

"Life is for living" – life will go on, and this is what Mike wants us all to keep in mind.
