SHIPLEY, Mildred Diane – Kingston, Kings Co., at the age of 81, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Mildred was born in Halifax and was a graduate of the Halifax Infirmary School of Nursing in 1961, receiving the Medal of Merit. Throughout her nursing career, she was employed in a number of hospitals in various disciplines, ending her time as a nurse in the veteran's wing at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton.
Mildred loved and served her family, church and community. She leaves to mourn her husband, Ken; her children, Kenneth (Terri); Joseph (Dorothy); and Karen (Allan); and her grandchildren, Caleb, Ian, Emily, Aidan and Jillian. She was predeceased by her parents, Mark and Molly (Hansen) Maloney; her infant son, Kevin.
Mildred was active in the Valley Cursillo movement and the Catholic's Women's League at St. Monica's Church, Middleton.
Visitation will take place from, 2-4 p.m., Sunday afternoon in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 30, in St. Monica's Roman Catholic Church, 41 Connaught Ave., Middleton. Rev. Fr. Michael Walsh officiating. A reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will take place in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Kingston, at a later date. No flowers, donations may be made to St. Monica's Pavement Project.
