O'HARA, Muriel Estelle, 89 of Truro and formerly of Port George, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2016 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Isaac's Harbour, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Marjorie (Warner) Giffin. Muriel retired from teaching school after 32 years of service and she was a former member of the Bedford Baptist Church choir. Muriel will be remembered as a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her husband Cyril, Parkland Estates, Truro; daughters Brenda (Michael) Shevery, Upper Stewiacke and Nadean O'Hara (Dick Pins), Nashville, Tennessee; sisters Ruth Roy, Victoria, BC, Mona Salter, Halifax, Joan (Conrad) Namiesniowski, Orleans, ON, Diane (Tibor) Berta, Dartmouth; brothers John Giffin, Bedford and Gordon Giffin (Elaine), Hammonds Plains; grandchildren Tammy (Tim) Sutherland and Terry (Lacey) Shevery; great grandchildren Bria, Allie and Cassie as well as a great great granddaughter expected; sister-in-law Addie Giffin, Goshen and Aunt Georgina O'Brien, Halifax; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Robert, another brother James and a sister Mary, both in infancy and a great grandson Colby in infancy. By request, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 7 th in the Hillside Cemetery, Port George with Rev. Gary Manthorne officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service in the Port George Recreation Centre. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of choice.
