Obituary

PERKINS, Murray Albert ~ Age 89, of Greenwood Kings Co., passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, after a short illness. He passed away five days before his 90 th birthday! Born on July 15, 1931, in Middleton, he was a son of the late Albert and Ada (Dodge) Perkins. At the age of 16, Murray joined the West Nova Scotia Regiment for six years from October 1947 to January 1953. He was a member of the Salvation Army for a time. Murray worked at several jobs during his life time, including bus driver for Acadian Lines, taxi driver, picking up passengers from the airport in Halifax to their hotels. He also worked at Halifax Shipyards for several years, eventually becoming self employed in a small business with radio & TV repairs in Lantz. Murray loved doing woodworking, making small projects. He enjoyed playing chess and teaching his grandchildren how to play the game. Murray loved watching Murdock Mysteries on TV and had a collection of John Wayne movies that he loved watching! He enjoyed & loved spending time with his family when he could. Murray will also be missed by the good friends at the apartment building where he lived, who were always there for him if he needed help, thank you! He will be always loved and greatly missed by his daughter, Cheryl Fader; and all his grandchildren, Geneen, Robert, Tracy, Crystal, Perry and Heather; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Doris Comeau, Audrey Alward, Elaine (Garnet) Hartt, Norma (Larry) Sproul; brothers, Ron, Douglas (Carolyn), Richard (Marilyn), Frank (Mary); several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Murray was predeceased by daughter, Bonnie Bergman; son, Perry; sisters, Barbara Bowser and Elizabeth (in infancy); brother, Kenneth. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 15 th , in the Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Middleton. This would have been Murray's 90 th birthday. The family asks those who attend to not wear black or dark coloured clothing, as they wish to celebrate Murray's life.
