Obituary

CHUTE, Myrna Gregg ~ of Berwick, Kings Co., N.S., passed away peacefully at the age of 95, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, in Valley Hospice, Kentville.  Born on September 25, 1929 in the family home in Somerset, Kings Co., she was the only daughter of the late E. Clifford and Esther P. (Power) Bishop. She attended primary and secondary school in Berwick, graduating in 1946 as valedictorian of her class. After graduation she studied music at Acadia University in Wolfville, N.S. and subsequently taught piano lessons to many students over the years. Working with figures and numbers was something she enjoyed very much as well and took a job working in the Graves Plant office. Myrna later studied at Dalhousie University to be a dental assistant and then was employed at Dr. Andy Nette's dental office until her retirement. She was a member of Berwick United Church and the Berwick & District Lionettes Club.  Besides working, her absolute passion was spending time with her horses and going on trail rides with family and friends. She and her husband Bob after their retirement enjoyed travelling around Nova Scotia, golfing, square dancing and spending their winters in Florida. In later years, she loved to play bridge and belonged to a local knitting club. Myrna was a member of the Berwick & District Curling Club for a time and enjoyed watching curling on Television. She will be forever missed by her family and many friends. Surviving are daughters, Cathryn Chute, Wolfville; Lynn (Fred) Wade, Grand Pré; grandchildren, Jamie, George (Mallory) and Tessa (Carl) Hayes; great grandchildren, Hudson and Halle; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Robert E. "Bob" Chute; her only brother, Donald "Don" (Barbara) Bishop. All are welcome to attend a time in celebration of Myrna's life that will take place from 2-4 p.m., on Monday, May 5 in the Berwick & District Lions Hall, Wilson Family Community Room, Kings Mutual Century Centre, 250 Veterans Drive, Berwick. A private interment service for both Myrna and Bob took place at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 9, 2025, in the Berwick Cemetery, with Rev. Mary Jo Harrison officiating.
