BALCOM, Nellie Marie - 81 of Nictaux, Annapolis County passed away, Thursday, October 4, 2012 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Concession, Digby County, she was a daughter of the late Siffroi and Beatrice (Boudreau) Gaudet of Concession and later moved to Corberrie. She was employed at T.R.A. Foods and later for her husband, Bert Balcom & Son Excavating. She was the first President of the Nictaux Firettes and Past President of the Ladies Bowling League. Nellie enjoyed quilting, golfing, Bingo, playing cards, dancing and bowling. She especially enjoyed her four grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 59 years Bert Balcom, Nictaux; daughters, Christina (Karl) DeCoste, Wilmot; Wendy (Keith) Sheridan, Nictaux South and son, Bobby Balcom, Nictaux; sister, Ann Gaudet (Ted Randall), Oakville, ON; brother, Norman (Amy) Gaudet, Corberrie, Digby County and grandchildren, Josh, Jesse, Kelsey and Garrett. She was predeceased by her mother, Beatrice and her father, Siffroi Gaudet. Cremation has taken place. At Nellie's request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held 2:00PM, Tuesday, October 9, 2012 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448 with Rev. Deacon Don Boudreau officiating. Private family interment will be in Nictaux Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will follow the service at the Nictaux Fire Hall. No flowers by request.
