Obituary

VARNER, Nellie May (nee Comeau)- 92, Grandview Manor, Berwick, formerly of Kingston, NS, passed away on December 29. Nellie was a loving wife to the late Lloyd S. Varner and mother to the late Brian Varner. Nellie was a long-time employee of the Valley Creamery and Valley Creamery Hardware Store in Kingston. A life-long member of the Kings West PC Association and NS PC Women's Association, Nellie was also a member of the Kingston Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and was active member in TOPS for which she won an award and was in later life a member of the Jehovah's Witness congregation in Kingston. Nellie is survived by her two adoring grandchildren Joseph Varner (Lisa MacLeod) of Ottawa and Kathryn McCarthy (Owen) of Dartmouth. She is also survived by a sister Joyce Lewis and a brother Mighall Comeau, as well as great-grandson Liam McCarthy and great-granddaughters Colleen McCarthy and Victoria Varner. Nellie was predeceased by an infant son John David, father Joseph Oscar Comeau, mother Ivy May Comeau, her daughter-in-law Margaret, her brothers Reginald Comeau, George Comeau, infant brother John and her sister Ada Stanton. Cremation has taken place and by request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2013 at the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 with Rev. Michael Mugford officiating. Interment will be in the North Kingston Cemetery. By request, family flowers only. Donations may be made in Nellie's name to the Kingston Volunteer Fire Department and Fidelis House Society, the Valley Regional Hospital.
