Obituary

DYKSTERHUIS, Nicholaas "Nick" - age 80 of Kingston, Kings Co., passed away on Friday, July 31, 2015, in the Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Holland, he was a son of the late Klaas and Pietake (Kuiper) Dyksterhuis. Nick was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 98 Kingston. He was a retired truck driver, enjoyed his time with friends and was quite an entertainer. Nick loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are his loving wife of 43 years, Jeannette (Garnett) Dyksterhuis; his daughter, Vicky Lynn Tilli, Ancaster, Ontario; his sons, Danny Dyksterhuis (Amy), Florida.; Terry Dyksterhuis, Massachusetts; Scott Dyksterhuis (Peggy), Florida; his grandchildren Christian, Deborah and Ashley; his great grandchildren Kourtney and Isabella and numerous extended family in Canada and United States. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Joe and Klaas. In keeping with Nick's wishes, cremation has taken place. A legion tribute will be held 11:00AM Tuesday, August 4, 2015 in Kingston Branch No. 98, 1472 Veterans Lane, Kingston. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be held at a later date in Ontario. Donations in Nick's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
