DENTON, Nina Mildred ~ Age 93, of Kingston, Kings Co., N.S., passed away peacefully on Monday, July 10, 2023, in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Widdifield, Ontario, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mabel Hein, and was the eldest of their six children. Nina was an active member of Melvern Square Baptist Church; she could always be found helping in the kitchen. She was a wonderful cook and was well known for her fabulous baking. She was an avid gardener who loved her flowers. A skilled seamstress, Nina was a regular at the church quilting bee, and will live on in the stitches of many quilts. Nina loved her family so much. She was married to her loving husband, Merrill, for over 66 years, and wherever she went, they did it holding hands. Besides her husband, she will greatly missed by all of her five children, Ed (Cathee) Denton, Vancouver, B.C.; Ruth Thompson and Barbara Greencorn, both of Halifax; Linda (David) Scott, St. Alberta, Alta; Susan Denton, of Kingston; as well as her two surviving sisters, Anne (Peter) Thorsen, North Bay, Ont.; Irene Reed, North Bay, Ont. She had eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren. In keeping with Nina's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 13, in Melvern Square Baptist Church, 377 Stronach Mountain Rd., Melvern Square. Pastor Keith Pineo and Rev. Elizabeth Amirault officiating, with a reception to follow. Interment will be in Church Grove Cemetery, Melvern Square.
