Obituary

Norma (DeWolfe) Frederick, 85, left this world on May 23 rd , 2022 surrounded by her family.  Norma was born in Carrington on March 22 nd , 1937 and moved to Annapolis Royal as a young girl where she spent her formative years. After graduating from Annapolis Royal Academy, Norma moved to Kentville to study at Mac's Business School. Upon graduation, she worked as a veterinarian's assistant in Kentville. It was here in Kentville where Norma would meet the love of her life, Eric "Buzz" Frederick.  They would marry early in 1958 and then travel the world together adding a new daughter with each of Buzz's military postings.  Norma was an amazing person who exuded kindness, compassion, and care for others.  She raised her daughters often by herself as Buzz was frequently away serving as a peacekeeper in the CAF.  Norma had five daughters, Sandy (John) Jensen, Sherry (Peter) Scoville, Maria (Dave) Cameron, Heather (Chris) Strickey, and Jenny Frederick (Allen Hiltz).  She was the best Nanny and she spoiled her grandkids as she never would her own kids.  Norma leaves behind her beloved Buzz, her daughters and their partners, 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Eleanor DeWolfe.  Norma was predeceased by her parents, Ella and Frank DeWolfe, sister Patty (Laurie) Cleveland, sister Noreine (Stephen) Thorne, brother, Ronald DeWolfe, and great grandson, Ira.

Norma loved wee babies, animals, helping others, and, of course, ice-cream!  She hosted gigantic holiday family dinners putting such care and attention into each meal.  Her love for her family shone through every meal she prepared.  Norma was a crossword aficionado and even as Alzheimer's tried to lay claim to her life, she valiantly fought to remain present to support all of her loved ones.

In the last 15 months of her life, Norma resided at the Grand View Manor and the family is grateful to the Staff for caring for Norma so devotedly. Celebration of Norma's life will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 27 th at the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. Rev. Herb Townsend will officiate with a reception to follow.
