Obituary

Grant, Norma Talmadge – Age 99 of Berwick formerly of Nictaux West. Mom passed away peacefully, on Sunday March 15th, 2020 at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton surrounded by her loving family. Approximately two months short of her hundredth birthday, she made her journey home to meet her Lord and Saviour, and be reunited with her husband Gerald. Born in Nictaux on May 9 th , 1920; she was a daughter of the late Clifton and Corella (Ernst) Vidito. Norma was a very active participant in her community, being a member of the Nictaux Baptist Church, a Dominion Life member of the Women's Missionary Society, and member of the Rebekah Lodge. For many years Norma canvased in her community on behalf of numerous charities including the Cancer Society, Red Cross and Heart and Stroke Foundation. In her earlier years she worked for Scotian Gold and upon returning to work was employed by Mackenzie Sales and later EB Allen Foods. Along with her community activities she could often be found watching and supporting her beloved Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays. Norma was totally committed to her family and enjoyed cooking and baking for them, and especially celebrating with big family meals. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by her family. Norma is survived by daughters, Sheila (Norman) Fritz, Cayley, AB; Deborah (Tony) Gates, New Albany; son, Blair (Sheila) Grant, Ardrossan, AB; sister, Elizabeth Keddy, Bridgewater; grandchildren, Grant (Lorie) Fritz, Weirdale, SK, Aaron (Kacy) Fritz, High River, AB, Stacey (Brad) Dickinson, Kris (Lorell) Grant and their mother, Donna Grant, all of Calgary, AB, Veronica Grant and her mother, Iris Grant, both of Calgary, AB, Scott (Andrea) Gates, Weston, Gavin (Katherine Barkhouse) Gates, Waterville; great grandchildren, Cameron (Cheyenne), Alyssa, Bryanna, Wyatt, Madeleine, Riley, Daxton, Logan, Emilie, Dirk, Justin,  Kody; great-great grandchildren, Blaire and Weston. Besides her parents, Norma was predeceased by her husband of sixty nine years, Gerald Grant; sisters, Edith, Leola, Viola, Verda; brothers, Arnold, Claude, Chester, Howard, Theodore, Lawrence, Johnny, and Carl. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff on medical and TCU at Soldier's Memorial for their excellent care and compassion. Special thanks to Pat H. and Shelley G. for looking after us during this difficult time. The family would also like to thank New Vision Home for Special Care, for making Mom a home and being her second family for the past eight years. With respect to the current and ongoing concern with the COVID 19 pandemic and to keep everyone safe, the family has chosen to have a private Celebration of Norma's life.
