Obituary

VAN EMBER, Norman Wendell age 88 of Wilmot passed away Friday, May 8 2015 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Pugwash, he was a son of the late Hanford and Susan (Brown) Van Ember. Norman was employed with the Bank of Nova Scotia; was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force for18 years and District Manager for World Book Encyclopedia for 20 years. Norman was a member and volunteer with the Greenwood Health Auxiliary; Blood Donor Clinic Volunteer; member of the Annapolis Valley Men's Gospel Choir; member of Branch #98 Royal Canadian Legion Kingston and member of Valley Wing #107 RCAFA. As a young man, he enjoyed fishing lobster and working in the woods with his father and in later years, he was an avid golfer, bowler and dart player. Norman is survived by his wife, Anita Mansfield-Van Ember, Wilmot; daughter, Joanne Keddy, Berwick; son, Scott Van Ember, Calgary; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Amy, great grandson, Nathan, five step children and several step grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce Smith, son Wendell, brother, Emmerson, half-sister, Eileen and half-brother Ernest. Cremation has taken place. At Norman's request, there will be no memorial service or visitation. Donations in memory of Norman may be made to the Greenwood Health Auxiliary.
