Obituary

STEADMAN, Orland LeRoy "Oz" Age 77 of Lawrencetown, Annapolis County, lost his battle with cancer at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton Sunday, April 6, 2014. Born in Upper Granville, he was the son of the late Clyde and Violet (Gregory) Steadman. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Orland retired from United Elastic (Britex) in 1983 due to his loss of vision. He enjoyed playing cards, darts and fishing until his vision loss. Orland loved the outdoors, country music especially Stomping Tom and spending quality time with his family. He was a devoted partner, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Orland is survived by his partner of 46 years, Marion Brinton; sons, David (Heather) North Williamston; Bruce (Holly Connell) Nictaux; Michael Charlton (Heather) Bear River; daughters, Vicki Tidd (Joseph) Digby; Janice (Karl Pollock) Brantford, Ont; Marina Zwicker (Robert Clark) Barss Corner; Ann (Steve Moore) South Farmington; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers Earl, David, Franklyn "Bud", and Robert; sisters, Joyce Nogler, Laura Illsley and Viola Higginbotham. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at the Fairview Cemetery in Lawrencetown. Donations in memory of Orland can be made to the CNIB, Canadian Cancer Society or the Annapolis Valley Palliative Care.
