Obituary

BEALS, Owen Oakland – 95 of Middleton, formerly of Lawrencetown passed away Thursday, June 12, 2025, in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born in Inglisville, he was a son of the late Archibald and Pearle (Naugler) Beals.

Owen owned and operated Owen Beals Painting and retired when he was in his seventies.

Owen had many interests in life.   He enjoyed all genres of reading, but his favorite was a good western by Zane Grey or Louis L'Amour.  In the third week of August, you could always find him at the Annapolis Valley Exhibition Agricultural Show attending the Ox or Horse Pulls.   He volunteered at the Exhibition for many years, helping on the grounds or tackling any painting job that needed to be done.   Every weekend between May and October the trailer would be hooked up and headed to Keji where Owen and Mary Lou enjoyed camping with family and friends.  His passion for nature and animals had no bounds.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Mary Louise (Longley); daughter Suzanne Daoust (Donald Legrow), Pouch Cove, Nfld; brother Clyde Beals, Halifax; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Donald.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Evergreen Home for Special Care for the compassion and care Owen received during his time with them.

In keeping with Owen's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a graveside service will take place at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown. Donations in memory may be made to the Annapolis Valley Exhibition. Arrangements entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448.
