Obituary

GRIFFIN, Pamela Annis - (nee Meisner). Pam Griffin, of Melvern Square, Nova Scotia, died in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, on January 1, 2014. Pam learned in July, 2013 that she had lung cancer, and fought bravely against it. She insisted on being home for Christmas, which she enjoyed celebrating with her family. Born on October 30, 1942, in Lowell, Massachusetts, Pam was the daughter of William A. Meisner and Muriel H. Meisner. She is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Harold L. Griffin, her daughter Sharon Griffin (Bernard Letarte) of Ottawa, ON; her son Harold "Hal" L. Griffin Jr. of Middleton, N.S., his daughter Jaya Griffin, and 12 special nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Yvonne (William) Meisner of Jacksonville, Fla, sister-in-law Velora (Rick) Gibson of Bothwell, On., sister-in-law Muriel (Dennis) Lutz of Morristown, N.S., brother-in-law Roy Griffin of Kingston, N.S., and special Aunts Edna (Edward) Meisner of Bridgewater, N.S., and Pauline Morse of Wilmot, N.S. She also leaves many dear cousins, close friends, and special neighbors who became part of her family. Pam was predeceased by her parents, her infant daughter Pamela Dawn Griffin, and her brother William A. Meisner Jr. (Yvonne). Pam grew up in Lowell, Massachusetts, attended high school there, and worked at Electro Circuits Inc. in Lowell for several years. She fell in love with Harold, and moved to Nova Scotia in 1966. She and Harold were inseparable after that, and it was rare to see one without the other. Harold was by her side through the years up until the moment of her death. Pam worked for over 25 years for the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board as a secretary, including at the Annapolis East Elementary School from its opening until her retirement. She loved working with the staff and students, and had many special friendships. Pam was a member of the Melvern Square United Baptist Church, an avid camper and lover of Risser's Beach, enjoyed crafts, her cats, and spending many happy times friends and family, especially visits with her family in Massachusetts. A special thank you for the excellent medical care, and thoughtfulness, of doctors, nurses, and staff at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, the Valley Regional Hospital, the QEII Health Sciences Centre, and the VON. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday January 7th, at 2:00 p.m. in the Melvern Square United Baptist Church, Pastor Elizabeth Amirault officiating. A reception to follow in the church annex. Internment after the reception in North Kingston Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
