DEMPSEY, Patricia (Pat) Edith, 86 of Lower Sackville and Morden passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at home. Born in Nottingham, England, she was the daughter of the late Alan and Ella (Tweed) Shaw. As Pat always said, she was conceived in Nova Scotia, born in Nottingham, England and at 6 months of age returned to Nova Scotia arriving at Pier 21. She was raised in Kentville and Aylesford and in 1953 she married the love of her life, Layton Dempsey. Pat and Layton had three children, and in the late 1960's settled in Lower Sackville. Pat worked for several engineering firms in the Halifax area, was a founding member of the Sackville Lioness Club, and was a collector of many things. In the late 1980's Pat and Layton moved to Southampton, New York, where they resided for the next 26 years. Pat worked in the family business in Southampton, New York and was an active member of the Southampton Garden Club. She sang in the local church choir- which gave her the opportunity to travel throughout Europe with this group. Pat and Layton returned to Nova Scotia in 2013 where they settled back into the family cottage in Morden. Pat was a kind and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was very proud of her children and grandchildren. Along with her parents, Pat was predeceased by her husband Layton Dempsey. Pat is survived by her children, Karen Dempsey (Robert Falls), Crescent Beach; David Dempsey (Cynthia Freeman), Middle Sackville; and Nancy Dempsey (Mark Jamieson), Lower Sackville; grandchildren, Dylan Falls, Sean Falls, Allison Dempsey, Spencer Dempsey, Hannah Crossman, Paige Crossman, Kyle Jamieson and great grandson Wallace Layton Falls; sister-in-law Deb Cox (Merced, California). By request, there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held 2:00PM, Tuesday, March 6, 2018 in St. Mary's Anglican Church, Auburn with Rev. Mel Malton officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Anglican Cemetery, Auburn. Reception to follow in the Morden Community Hall. By request, family flowers only. Donations in memory of Pat may be made to the Lower Sackville Lions Club, St. Mary's Anglican Cemetery or a Charity of Choice.
