Patricia "Pat"
Hrycko
August 2, 1925 – October 2, 2022
The family of the late Pat Hrycko, 97, of Jefferson Pines, Meadowvale and recently Orchard Court, Kentville, announce with great sadness the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She passed away peacefully in her sleep with her daughter Kathy and son-in-law in attendance. Pat, born in the Ukraine on August 2 nd , 1925, was the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Kicak). At the age of 10, with her mother and younger brother Mike, arrived by boat at pier 21 in Halifax in 1935, then boarded a train for Arvida, Quebec, where her father had already been working for ALCAN (Aluminum Company of Canada) for a couple of years to bring them to Canada.
She had 4 children Anne, David, Kathy, and Wayne. They had 4 grandchildren, Kevin, Brian Krystal & Cynthia and 5 great-grandchildren, Anthony & Alessia, Liam & Nolan, Anna-Lynn. She was predeceased by her former husband, Albert McNutt, younger siblings Michael, Peter, Olga, and Andrew Jr.
When Pat moved to Nova Scotia from Quebec, in July 2007 at the age of 82 she bought a house in Meadowvale, completely renovated it, and landscaped the property with beautiful flower beds, trellises and a big fenced in vegetable garden. Her house was her pride and joy. Pat was a passionate gardener, avid reader, prolific knitter and had a great thirst for knowledge.
