Obituary

CAMERON, Paul Kenneth ~ Age 75, of Burlington, Kings Co., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at home, surrounded by family members. Born in Trenton, Pictou Co., N.S., he was a son of the late David S. and Beatrice A. (Smith) Cameron. Paul worked and lived in New Glasgow as an electrician with the IBEW. He moved to Burlington in the early 1980's and started an outreach which led to the building of Mountain Mission United Pentecostal Church in 1986, where he pastored for many years. Paul will be remembered by many for running the "happy hour" youth group. In recent years he led services at the Valley House of Prayer. Paul loved playing his guitar and singing and had hosted many hymn sings in various local communities over the years. He cared about people and had a magnetic personality. Paul loved the water and there were few sunsets that he did not watch from the shore or sticks of driftwood that he did not see as potential works of art. Married to his sweetheart Anne for 43 years, he raised his three daughters and became a father figure to many others. Paul cherished his home away from home in Port Hood, where he spent many precious years with his family and earned the title "the Codfather" from his grandchildren. Surviving are his daughters, Sherri (Paul) Hawkes; Angela (Wesley) Kaulback; son-in-law, David Bartlett; grandchildren, Micah (Sasha), Mariah (Andrew), Katie, Jacob, Josie, and Jaidyn; great granddaughter, Isla; sisters, Sheila (Wayne) Grosvold; Charlotte (Kenny) Arbeau. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, the former Anne P. Carson; daughter, Heidi Bartlett; son-in-law, David. Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m., Friday evening in Mountain Mission United Pentecostal Church, 3192 McNally Rd., Burlington, from where the funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 21. Rev Dean Dickinson officiating, with interment in Burlington Cemetery. A reception will follow in Burlington Community Hall. Donations in his memory may be made to Carey Me Fund – Supporting Palliative Care in the Home. The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Patricia MacDonald and Janet Welton (Palliative Care Nurse) for their extraordinary care given to Paul.
