In Loving Memory: Remembering a Life Well-Lived

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a cherished husband, devoted dad, grandad, and brother, Paul Daniel (Dan) Praught, who departed from this world at the age of 75.  He left us on July 22, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.

Born in Halifax, Dan was a son of the late James and Margaret (Gomm) Praught.

Dan was a beacon of light in the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him.  As a dedicated family man, he was a loving husband to Sharon, the caring father to Tina (Dale), and Craig (Tommi) and the best grandad to Emily (Ryan).  He was also a supportive brother to Mike (Heather) and his 11 half-siblings Theresa, Cathy, Darlene (Clinton), Dorothy, Faith (Roger), Denise (Eddie), Charlie (Patsy), Doug (Freda), Billy (Jenny), David (Karen) and his predeceased sister Eva. His unwavering love and support have been the foundation of his family's strength, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Dan had a passion for giving back to his community, which led him to be an active member of the Lions Club for many years.  Through selfless service, he made a positive impact by embodying the Lions Club's motto "We Serve."  His dedication to helping others was an inspiration to those who crossed his path.

His love for golf took him to lush greens where he'd spend days perfecting his swing and bonding with friends over friendly competitions.  As a sports enthusiast, he cheered passionately for his favorite teams, and his excitement during games was contagious.

However, above all else, spending quality time with his friends was what truly brought him the most joy.  Whether it was engaging in his hobbies, exploring new adventures, or simply enjoying each other's company, the bonds he forged with his friends were very special.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2023, at the Queen of Heaven Roman Catholic Church, 2 Church St., Greenwood. Father Magnus Chilaka officiating.  A reception will follow from 2-4 p.m. at the Kingston Lions Hall, 1482 Veteran's Lane and we invite all who knew and loved him to come together to honor his memory and share the precious moments that we hold dear.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charitable organization close to your heart in remembrance of Dan's legacy of service and compassion.

"He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much."
