SMITH, Paul Albert 82 of Kingston and formerly of North Kingston, passed away Friday, April 23, 2010 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton after a brief illness. Born in North Kingston, he was the youngest son of the late Percy and Annie (Illsley) Smith and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Paul was a carpenter by trade and had been employed in the C.E. Section, 14 Wing Greenwood until his retirement in 1992. After retirement, Paul enjoyed working in his vegetable gardens, having yard sales and going to country music shows. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, the former Mildred Kennedy; daughter Janise (Lloyd) Conrad, Sarnia Ont.; sons Robert (Pat) Smith, Clearbrook, B.C. and Darrell, Kingston. Grandchildren Byron, Brenda, Amanda and Michael; great grandchildren Guy, Chantal, Benjamin, Ethan, Cameron and Alexis as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his youngest son Barry; brothers George, Bernard, Charlie and Ralph. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. At Pauls request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in the North Kingston Cemetery, Rev. Leon Langille officiating. Donations in memory may be made to charity of choice. The family wishes to thank Dr. Aniamo and the Nursing Staff on the 3rd floor of Soldiers Memorial Hospital for the compassionate care they provided to Paul during his illness.
