Obituary

Pauline Diadick, beloved wife of the late Fred Leon Diadick, died peacefully on November 11 at the Heart of the Valley Long Term Care Centre, Middleton. She was 102. Her daughters, Rosalind Annis, Sandra Brand, Karen Diadick Casselman and Cynthia Diadick Tanner, are thankful that their dear mother is now in a state of grace, reunited with her loved ones and finally at peace. Sandra's husband David joins them in mourning. Pauline was born in Mount Hanley on July 13, 1913, to Maria (Balsor) Thompson and John Thompson. She attended Provincial Normal College (now Teachers College) In Truro and taught at schools, first in Mount Hanley and then in Brickton, until her marriage in 1937. Having lived for more than 50 years in Middleton, she and her husband moved to Truro. She returned to Middleton in 2013, where her innate dignity and sense of humor endeared her to all at the Heart of the Valley. As well as being a loving wife and mother, Pauline was always deeply involved in the life of the Baptist church and community causes wherever she lived. She was a charter member of the Annaval Chapter, Eastern Star, and a strong supporter of hospitals, for which she sewed hundreds of items for bazaars and sales. She held her master's in bridge, playing in many tournaments. Pauline was an excellent cook and skilled baker, famous for her pies. She loved animals, but dreaded canoes. Pauline was predeceased by her three brothers, Clarence, Balsor and Charlie Thompson. As well as her four daughters, she is survived by her cousin, Granville Thompson of Kingston, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate Pauline's life will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, July 13, 2016 in the Middleton Funeral Home with Rev. Gordon Delaney officiating. Interment will be in the Nictaux Cemetery. Pauline's wish was that memorial donations be made to Twelve Baskets Food Bank, 9326 Highway 10, Nictaux, N.S. B0S 1P0 or a Food Bank of Choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. On-line guest book may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
