Obituary

NORTON (Johnson), Pauline Adelaide ~ Age 87, of Berwick, Kings Co., her family are deeply saddened to announce her passing on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, in Valley Hospice, Kentville. Pauline was born on November 21, 1935, in Aylesford, and was the youngest child of the late Clayton and Evelyn (Borego) Johnson. Her siblings, Elizabeth "Betty" and Howard predeceased her. She is survived by her loving husband, James Norton; and her former husband, Robert Lockhart; daughters, Judy (John) Robidoux; Linda (Greg) Doucette; Brenda (Glenn) McGrath; stepsons, Michael (Rhonda) Norton; Chris (Katherine) Norton; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pauline was a quiet, good humored, openminded, competent women.  She started her hairdressing career in her own shop, which was annexed to our family restaurant in Greenwood. After the restaurant was sold in the early 1960's, she worked for a shop in Kingston, then later managed and taught at the Greenwood Beauty Academy, and finished her career teaching cosmetology at the Nova Scotia Community College in Middleton. Pauline had many hobbies, especially as her children grew up. She enjoyed painting, curling, golfing and bridge. She made a fine study of her hobbies and became very good at them. Pauline was fortunate to be able to retire at the age of 50. She then enjoyed many travels with her husband Jim and other family members. We will greatly miss her ever pleasant company. There will be no visitation. All are welcome to attend a service in celebration of Pauline's life at 2 p.m., Monday, February 20, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448. Rev. Paul Jennings will officiate, with a reception to follow. Interment in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Middleton, at a later date. Family flowers only, donations in her memory may be made to Valley Hospice Foundation, Valley Regional Hospital Foundation, I.W.K. Health Centre Foundation or to your favourite charity.
