Obituary

THOMPSON, Maria "Pauline" ~ age 83 of Bridgetown formerly of Paradise, NS passed away on October 13, 2020 in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late William and Florence "Pearl" (Shannon) White. In her youth, she loved helping on the farm with haying, weeding vegetables and feeding the lambs and hens. While living in Whiteside, CB, she attended Whiteside School, then boarding school in Arichat, where she graduated with honors. After graduation she joined the Filles de Jesus. She taught English in Quebec, where she learned French. When she returned to the Maritimes, she taught French at both the elementary and high level school for many years.  In her younger years, she enjoyed painting, knitting and crocheting. Pauline will be deeply missed by her husband of 39 years, Audley; step-daughters, Teresa Thompson (Kevin Edwards), Lawrencetown; Denise (Earl) Meister, Aylesford; step-sons, Scott Thompson, Middleton; Audley Brian Thompson, Red Deer, AB; step-daughter-in-law, Jeanne Thompson, New Germany; sisters, Rhoda MacDonald, Oakville, ON; Lucy (Brian) Voss, Arnprior, ON; Edith (Sylvestor "Vesty") MacInnis, Whiteside, NS;  Pius (Annie) White, Whiteside, NS; Barbara Malcolm, Antigonish; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Howard and step-son Michael. A private funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 18 th in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. toll free 1-855-825-3448 with Rev. Derek Elsworth officiating. Due to public gathering restrictions, for those who wish to view the service live please visit the funeral home's website and choose the 'Live Stream' option beginning at 1:55 pm ADT.  Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown, NS.  Donations in Pauline's memory may be made to Crosskill Court (for recreation or transportation) or to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Whiteside, Cape Breton.
